Reactivating the Shelby name and branding for the 21st century, the Ford Shelby GT was first unveiled in 2007, as the successor to Ford’s Mustang SVT Cobra model. But whilst this may seem to share a lot in common just on looks alone with the Mustang V6 and GT, there is more to this muscle car than meets the eye.
At 1778 kg, and a torque of 631 lbs ft, it is considerably more bulkier and tougher than its forerunners, which of course allows it to have more traction and better handling out on the track. But when you realise what this mean machine is running on, that’s a very good thing indeed.
Chiefly, it houses a whopping 5.0 litre V8 engine under the bonnet, powering out 420 bhp. It allows it to clock up some jaw dropping speed stats, with acceleration from 0 - 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and it is capable of achieving top speeds of a super fast 202 mph.
