Elvington Driving Experiences

With its long runways and open plan set-up allowing for excellent visibility, Elvington Airfield has been used as a land speed record attempt facility since the late 1960s. A former RAF Station, the airfield was due to be used by the US Air Force, who built the longest runway in the north of England at almost two miles in length. Today, Trackdays.co.uk are giving you the chance to drive some of the fastest cars at this historic venue.

Head out alongside one of our trained instructors in some of the newest Supercars on the market, including the McLaren 720S, Aston Martin DB11 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Alternatively, if you like your road surface a little more unstable, take part in one of our Rally car experiences. Take one of our rally prepared cars out with an instructor to learn some of the fundamentals of the sport, including brake and skid control, as well as understeer and oversteer techniques.

Elvington also offers the opportunity to get the adrenaline going with a drive in an Off Road Buggy with a top speed of over 120 mph. Hone your reactions as you take to the gravel stage to master power slides, brake-steer and the Scandinavian flick.

If you’re looking for something a little slower, Elvington plays host to a range of Famous Movie Car packages. Grab the keys to some of the stars of the big and small screen, including the Dodge Charger, made famous as General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard. Alternatively, you could choose a Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am or even the A-Team Van!

Located on the outskirts of York, Elvington Airfield is the perfect experience venue for those based in Yorkshire and the north of England. The venue is only three miles from the A64 with links to the M1, making it convenient for those coming from surrounding counties.

Elvington Race Track is marked out on the huge runway, with cones making it a fast yet safe place to drive cars. There is plenty of runoff on the high-speed bends and nice long straights to get up into the higher gears.

Elvington offers great scope for arranging Group or Corporate bookings with TrackDays. Indeed, there is a cabin for small groups of up to 40 people that's used for driving day events e.g. for briefings. Electrical power for larger events can also be provided via on site generation.

In terms of on site catering, there are traditional breakfasts, hot and cold snacks and meals offered across the day. There is a large steel framed marquee area at the edge of the Pan Area, and in-house medical cover is available on-site to industry standards.
