What are Junior Adaptive Driving Experiences?
We are proud at TrackDays to be introducing our new Junior Adaptive Driving Experiences, offering children aged 10 and up with a physical disability or impairment the amazing opportunity to drive a car - and not just any car, but a supercar at that!
So if your son, daughter, niece, nephew or grandchild with a disability loves cars, then just imagine the excitement they're going to feel about taking to a real circuit track in a turbocharged supercar!
We are working directly with a supplier that is a leading disability organisation who have been providing young people with a disability or visual impairment incredible experiences like these for many years, and who are very well respected and praised for their experiences they host.
What Supercars Can Juniors With a Disability Drive?
Some ultra-stylish and super-powered Supercars have been made available for the Junior Adaptive Supercar Experiences. Among the awesome marques that are on offer to drive are a Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari California, Aston Martin DB9, Audi R8, Chevrolet Corvette C7 and Nissan GTR amongst many others - with as many as five supercars available to drive for up to 3 miles. Or alternatively, for a set fee they can Double the Distance and enjoy driving their chosen car for 6 miles.
To ensure they get the most enjoyment out of their driving time possible, the cars have all been fitted with fixed or temporary hand controls, as well as a steering wheel ball if needed, offering the young driver with a disability or visual impairment the chance to be both as comfortable as possible, and concentrate on directing the car and controlling the speed to be as fast or slow as need, without having to worry about gear changes.
And because they'll have an expert instructor beside them throughout the duration of their drive(s), offering them that direction, but also encouragement and support, plus there only being two cars on track at any one time, it allows for a more relaxed environment and thus more enjoyable driving time!
Where Can Juniors With a Disability Drive a Supercar? At present, there are a total of three venues where the Junior Adaptive Supercar Experiences are hosted: Tockwith Motorsports Centre in Yorkshire, and Abingdon Airfield and Bicester Heritage Centre in Oxfordshire.
These venues have been chosen for their facilities specifically for people with a disability or impairment, including Disabled Toilets and Disabled Parking, as well as refreshments that are available on-site from restaurants or cafes, serving hot and cold food and drinks.
Can Juniors With a Disability Really Drive A Supercar?
They really can! The aim of the Junior Adaptive Driving Experiences is to give kids and teens with a disability or visual impairment full care and consideration, and the confidence that they can enjoy the same exciting experiences that their peers or siblings without a disability or visual impairment can, because they deserve to enjoy these experiences too.
We are mindful and understanding that every child with a disability or impairment has different needs and requirements. And it's for that reason that, when you come to redeem your voucher with us, you'll speak to a dedicated representative on our Customer Service team.
With them, you'll take a short questionnaire with us that will help us get some basic information about your child's disability or impairment. We then send this over to the supplier along with your booking request, who will then make the necessary arrangements and get in touch with you directly to ensure that the experience is as bespoke as possible for your child's needs and requirements. You can be assured that this information will only be used for that purpose.
And if there's any queries you have at all about an experience or the suitability of a particular experience for your child but there's no immediate answer - that's OK. Just get in touch with us, and as we're in regular contact with the supplier, we'll be happy to talk to them to find out for you.
You can also find our Adaptive Driving Experiences in Supercars for Adults over on our Driving With a Disability page.
