What to Expect On a First Drive Driving Experience
First Drive experience days were built from the ground up with kids and juniors in mind. They’re the perfect stepping stone for young budding motorists aged 10 - 16, and bridge the gap between having no driving experience and becoming a learner driver, making the experience of learning to drive that much easier.
Available in a range of dual-controlled cars, including a Porsche Boxster, BMW 1 Series and Mazda MX5, learners will be sat alongside an expert instructor throughout their session, going through the basic skills like steering, start-stop, clutch control, gear changing and basic manoeuvres.
Instructors will use their judgement and pace the session to perfectly suit the learner, and with a debrief session they’ll be given tutelage and guidance on areas they performed well in and also suggest any improvements needed.
Why are First Drive Experiences a Great Idea?
Jumping into a car at 17, with no idea of how to start the engine, let alone pull-off and drive on public roads, can be intimidating, to say the least. Studies have also shown that 1 in 3 newly qualified drivers are more likely to have an accident in their first three months of driving due to lack of prior experience.
A First Drive takes away that intimidation, familiarising learners with how a car works, and giving them priceless experience behind the wheel in the safest possible environment. This all adds up to a smoother, reduced period of adjustment when the time to learn to drive comes around.
