The Mitsubishi Eclipse first debuted to the world in 1990. However, its fame and notoriety really began in 1995, after its second brand redesign. With it’s 2 litre, turbocharged 16V engine and 324 lbs of torque, the Eclipse has a phenomenal amount of power for its size. It’s an extremely popular drag race vehicle, as it has an incredibly fast acceleration of 0 - 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds! It really can compete with the big dogs of the supercar world, and is why it has remained such a popular car choice for speed car enthusiasts.;
The Eclipse was always an incredible performance vehicle, as it had won numerous rally titles, however it was the Fast and Furious series of films that really elevated the car to new levels of popularity. Brian O’Connor’s famous Green Car race showcased the Eclipse’s magnificent power, as it rattled through the race. It did however struggle at the end, but the iconic Kawasaki green modified Eclipse became an iconic feature of the franchise, and its popularity boomed as a result!
