Aston Martin is one of the last British owned car manufactures and it has just entered its centenary year. We at trackdays are big fans! After hours of deliberating we have managed compile a list of the 5 best Aston Martins of all time.
The Aston Martin DB4 built between 1958 and 1963 and was the successor to the DB2. One of the key brains behind the DB4 wasGeneralManager John Wyer (who would later go onto mastermind the Ford GT40). The most significant part of the making of this car was that every component was new and no parts from previous models were used, thus making it an entirely new car. The Aston DB4 was truly the first modern Aston and went on to gain great popularity because of this.
The DB9 was the car that helped Aston Martin back to the were it belonged as one of the major players in the supercar world.Launched in 2004 and built at the firms Gaydon facility in Warwickshire the DB9 has pretty much everything you could ask for in a sports car. Jaw dropping looks that still make heads turn after 9 years. Great performance from the 6 litre V12 engine which produces astaggering470bhp helping it reach an impressive 190mph.
One of the main reasons the Vanatge is so popular, is because the V8 engine produces sounds of a musical nature that would leave many a tenor jealous. What’s more, it only gets better as the revs increase. Some of the finest supercars have a certain something that just draw you in. The Aston Martin V8 Vanatge makes you feel like you are at an opera listening to some of the most beautiful voices of all time rather than driving a car.
Not only is the DBS one of the finest supercars of the modern era but it is also a record breaker. It holds the world record for the most full flips in a movie. This was achieved in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale. The DBS took over the mantle from the Vanquish as the top Aston Martin in it’s division. The supercar is very brash and in your face which not everyone agrees with in how a British supercar should be, but this hardly matters when you can get from 0-60 in just 4.3 seconds.
1: Aston Martin DB5
Was there ever any doubt on which car would be head an shoulders above the rest. The DB5 is the most famous Aston Martin of all time and has been since it iconic appearance in the Bond movie Goldfinger. The car is one of the most recognisable cars of all time and many critics claim it to be one of the best cars of all time. The DB5 has it all, the looks, the performance and the fact that it is as loved today as it was on its release.
