With this week seeing the Autumnal Equinox - the final point of the calendar year when there are equal daylight and nighttime hours - it is time to welcome in a new meteorological season. But it is far from the end of the story for the Own Car Track Day season.
Indeed, as we discussed with our audience on our Facebook page only last week, many of the merits of taking your own set of wheels to track when the weather gets slightly crisper and cooler are self evident; from a quieter and less busy circuit, to it being more affordable than it is during the high season.
So it is with this in mind that we have taken a look ahead to the calendar and selected four of our best recommendations for upcoming own car track events happening at well-known circuits across the UK this autumn…
This year is a bit of a special occasion for the historic Snetterton in Norfolk - as 2026 marks their 75th anniversary - and on 10th - 11th October they will play host to the season finale of this year's GT Cup Championship series.
But before then, at the start of next month, you can bring your hot wheels to their 3 mile 300 Circuit layout, offering a full day session with the option to add on tuition at either £25 for 20 minutes, or £75 for 3 x 20 minute sessions split across the day.
Plus, if you're wanting to make a night of it to ensure you're there ready for when gates open at 7:30am, you're in luck as camping is still free on-site in October.
For those wanting a relatively quieter time on track this autumn, there are few destinations that are as much of a must-have to book as a session at Thruxton Circuit.
One of the UK's longest circuits at 2.4 miles per lap, noise limits are also kept at 90 dB(A) for all events, including this one at the start of October.
No GT race cars, single seaters or sports racing cars are allowed at this event either, so you can be assured that you'll be sharing the track with others who are just content to bring their own car, regardless of the modifications or specs, and see just what is capable of under track conditions.
It was a no brainer to get a date at the legendary Castle Combe Circuit in amongst our choices for an autumn track day; after all, there are few sights more pleasing than the trees resplendent in reds, oranges and yellows amongst the pretty Cotswold stone houses and cottages that the Wiltshire village - and by extension, the nearby circuit site - is known the world over for.
And this session on 19th October comes with some cool extras in the price, including photography, as well as a free 30 minute tuition session you can book on the day (although, a small word of advice, this is available on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you arrive, the better).
Running from 7:30am to 5pm, there are both morning and afternoon sessions with a break for lunch at midday, so as far as Mondays go, we'd say there's worse ways to spend them than here!
With the fringes of the Snowdonia National Park inland, and overlooking the Irish Sea, there are few venues that are so naturally atmospheric in the autumn months as Anglesey Trac Môn in North Wales is.
And whether some clear but crisp sunshine, or damp mist and fog is on the cards weather wise, it will all add up to the energy and feeling of being out on track at the end of October, utilising the full International GP Circuit layout, measuring over 2 miles in length with a number of challenging corners and tight hairpins to navigate.
Photography will be included in the price of this event, plus on the day you can also take advantage of a free 30 minute tuition session from expert instructors on-site on the day.
