Situated a stone's throw away from the iconic home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone Rally School is one of our longest such established rally schools, offering a range of both rally and off-road packages. For those who are relative novices to rally driving, the silver level driving experience is the best to start out with.
Following your welcome introduction and a class safety briefing focusing on technique, you'll take to the purpose built rally stage to take on 5 laps of the left and right handbrake circuit, and 5 laps of the powerslide circuit, an expert instructor beside you throughout in the passenger seat offering their coaching and tips. From there, you'll finish the session off on the gravel rally stage to really unleash everything you've acquired skills wise and put it into practice!
Or, for those rally newcomers based in Essex, there's this fantastic value session priced under £100 at Langley Park School near Saffron Walden that's worth a shot. The school here boasts an awesome selection and front and rear wheel drive rally spec cars, ranging from Ford Escort Mk IIs to Suzuki Swift Cup Cars.
Following your sign on and safety briefing, you'll get kitted out with helmet fitting, and enjoy a 20 minute driving session with your rally instructor, as well as enjoying a high speed passenger ride with them at the wheel to show you what your car's capable of in the hands of a pro, and you'll also receive a commemorative certificate to take home as well.
Why drive one rally spec car when you can have two? At a wide range of venues across the UK, including Curborough Sprint Course in Staffordshire and Llanbedr Airfield in Wales, you can do exactly this.
Your choice of two rally cars from a fleet including the Mitsubishi Evolution X, Ford Mk 1 Escort RS, Subaru Impreza STI Spec C and Ford Focus Mk 2 Rally are yours to take the wheel of for 6 miles each, all under the guidance of an expert instructor, who will take you through a full safety briefing prior to each of your drives.
However, if you've got your confidence and proficiency up a level on the rally stage, you could always see what a mix of three rally spec cars would be like to drive, on this experience hosted at Kendrew Barracks in Leicestershire and Elvington Airfield in North Yorkshire.
Your pre-drive briefing will include a focus on rally driving techniques and then it'll be out to enjoy up to 5 minutes driving time in each of your three rally spec cars, including the Ford Fiesta ST Rally, Subaru Impreza WRx STi and Mitsubishi Evolution. We've arguably saved the best till last with this one. The Dakar Rally Jump Experience has only been on-site a little over a year, but this exclusive rally package with a difference at Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire has to be tried to be believed - and is not for the faint hearted!
Because you'll need to have nerves of steel to attempting to jump The Launch Pad in this, a Dakar Rally spec Yamaha, with an expert instructor gradually building your confidence over the course of sighting laps and driving laps around the Rally X stage, with eight attempts in all to take on what is by far and away the biggest rally jump experience in the world that will send you sky high!
