Diesel locomotive enthusiasts in Wales will relish the opportunity to drive a genuine Class 37 diesel on this 30 minute train driving experience voucher at the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway! Your session is shared with others, and will begin at the line's main station, Furnace Sidings, where the cafe, shop and restoration workshops are all based on this preserved heritage line that was first opened in 1983. An expert train driver will be your guide for the duration of your session, which includes a 4 mile trip down the line to Coed Avon. The Class 37 you'll be driving is the D6916 (formerly 37216), which was built by the Vulcan Foundry in 1964 and they were a common sight on the UK's rail networks until their retirement in 2007. This unique driving session will be perfect for any railway devotees to try out driving these famed 'tractors' of the rails!
