What to expect with a First Drive driving experience

First Drive experiences were built from the ground up with kids and juniors in mind. They’re the perfect stepping stone for 10-16-year-olds and bridge the gap between having no driving experience and learner drivers, making the experience of learning to drive that much easier.

Available in a range of dual-controlled cars including a Renault Clio, BMW 1 Series and Mazda MX5, learners will be sat alongside expert instructors going through the basic skills like steering, start-stop, clutch control, gear changing and basic manoeuvres. Instructors will use their judgement and pace the session to perfectly suit the learner.

First Drive experiences are available at a range of central UK venues including Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire, North Weald Airfield in Essex and Heyford Park in Oxfordshire.

Why First Drives are a great idea

Jumping into a car at 17, with no idea of how to start the engine, let alone pull-off and drive on public roads, can be intimidating, to say the least.

A First Drive takes away that intimidation, familiarising learners with how a car works, and giving them priceless experience behind the wheel in the safest possible environment. This all adds up to a smoother, reduced period of adjustment when the time to learn to drive comes around.

Our Ranking System

To help you make your decision on which experiences to buy, our star ratings are based on a combination of popularity, price and content.

1 - 3 stars

Value experiences - great for low budgets but usually less drive-time than higher priced experiences. Usually limited to airfield type venues.

3 - 4 stars

Most popular experiences which have a good balance between price, itinerary and venue. Usually more drive-time and often better standard of venue than budget experiences.

5 stars

Top end, exclusive or rarest driving experiences with the best cars, best venues and the most amount of driving.
