BBC Top Gear’s 31st series began on Sunday - but nobody expected to see Chris Harris yelling at Lando Norris as he took a McLaren 765LT on an impromptu joy ride following a successful lap time.
Prior to heading to Silverstone for a high-speed lap against three Formula 1 drivers, the new season of Top Gear started with a thrilling drag race. Lando Norris, a guest driver on BBC One's motor racing programme, celebrated his rapid finish by tearing up the track, leaving long-running broadcaster Chris Harris seething at the donuts.
Over the din, he screamed, “What’s he doing?! I’ve gotta drive that!”
Lando's antics prompted applause from the audience, and Chris' co-stars were unconcerned.
When Lando came out of the car following his amazing lap, he had a mischievous smile and gave the spectators a thumbs up. Come on Chris you can’t stay mad at that face.
Chris suggested that the allure of donuts is too much to resist for the younger generation - and Lando acknowledged, "I couldn't," he said.
For the last two years, the McLaren driver, 22, has been racing in F1 with the British-Belgian team.
Chris didn't let his racing background stop him from voicing his resentment when the young F1 talent couldn't resist taking the 765LT for a spin.
Chris was able to get within a second of Lando's pace despite the minor damage to the tyres - maybe Norris improved the car.
