Whilst the main series of BBC motoring favourite Top Gear is still on a break between series at the moment, news has reached our ears at TrackDays this week of a spinoff from the show that's started airing on the web.
Cars and computer games have always had a symbiotic relationship with one another - think the Forza, Need for Speed and GranTurismo series for example - which is explored and celebrated in the Top Gear Gaming Show.
Hosted by Julia Hardy and the Top Gear website's main game critic Mike Channell, the new sister show aired its first episode on their Facebook page last Friday (9th July), with another 9 x 15 mins episodes to follow every Friday after that.
It's definitely worth a watch - like its older, more established sibling, it's still cheeky and irreverent as you'd expect it to be, and Julia and Mike are a good partnership. As with the main show, it also takes one of the most popular features from it, but with a twist.
"Star In A Reasonably Still Car" will see well known names take on a virtual lap of the famous test track at Dunsfold Park to see who will come out on top, just as they do in the real life Reasonably Priced Car.
First behind the wheel for the challenge on Episode 1 is vlogger and podcast host Gav Murphy, one of the three founding members of the popular online video gaming and entertainment hub, RKG.
There's also an amusing - nay, exciting - segment where both Murphy and Channell go up against each other driving a black cab from Buckingham Palace to Brixton in the dystopian video game Watch Dogs: Legion (which, if we're honest, doesn't look all that dystopian compared to London in real life at certain points in the last year).
As well as that, there's an interview with Watch Dogs' creator, Ubisoft's Sean Crooks, about the design and making of the game. We look forward to seeing what follows in the rest of the series (even if their budget hasn't stretched to affording the theme tune. Sorry guys!)
The Top Gear Gaming Show continues on Fridays on Facebook until 10th September. Why not book your place on our Top Gear Star in a Car Challenge at our Dunsfold Park venue today on TrackDays? You can either book from an available date on our Events Calendar or purchase one of our Gift Vouchers.
