After 21 incredible years at Trackdays, it's time for me to turn the page. Leaving a place that has been such a central part of my life is emotional, humbling and - above all - deeply gratifying. When I first walked through the doors in July 2004, I couldn't have imagined the lessons I'd learn, the experience I would gain, the friendships I'd make, or the company James and I would build together. I'm proud of myself for my grit and determination and for believing in a vision when it was in its infancy. Today I want to celebrate that journey and say thank you to James and the staff who have come and gone in my time.
What 21 years have taught me
Two decades have taught me that project, operations and account management is really about people. Systems, processes and KPIs matter, but they only work when there's trust, care and collaboration behind them. I've learned to ask the right questions, and to prioritise simplicity over complexity. I've seen the impact of clear communication in stressful moments and the difference a small process change can make in efficiency and outcome.
There have been challenges - sleepless nights, countless hours spent problem-solving, rolling out new systems that tested everyone's patience - and victories: smoother workflows, measurable improvements in sales, a better workplace and a culture of continuous improvement. Those experiences have shaped the leader I am today: pragmatic, people-centred and relentlessly driven to succeed.
Thank you to the people who made Trackdays what it is
To every colleague who's ever worked here - those who are still with us and those who have moved on - I owe my deepest gratitude. You brought ideas, energy and resilience. You stayed when it was hard and challenged and supported me in equal measure.
A special thanks to the unsung heroes, our developers Scott and Chris, who behind the scenes kept the lights on, the gears maintained, the systems improving and the customers happy. Your dedication made all the difference.
Also to Jackie, who changed the culture in our call centre and made the office a happier and more productive place - ultimately giving us one of the best customer service teams in the industry.
And finally Imran, our longest serving member of staff behind me. Every year he has grown stronger and more capable in delivering a top-end corporate service and experience.
Proud of what we built
Looking back, I am most proud of how Trackdays grew without losing its heart. We grew in capability, technology and reach, but we remained a team that values each other, learning and quality. We created processes that protected our team and delighted our customers. We nurtured talent and gave people opportunities to stretch and improve their knowledge and skills. Watching colleagues grow, especially Alex, Beth and Lucy in the content team has been one of my greatest rewards.
What comes next
I'm excited about the next chapter - the chance to chase a pipe dream, put down the keyboard and mouse and pick up the pots and pans (I can picture the nickname already…). I'm confident Trackdays is in great hands. Our people and processes will carry this company forward and I will be cheering from the sidelines.
If there's one final message I want to share, it is this: invest in people. Build robust systems, yes - but never at the expense of empathy and leadership. Those are the foundations that make success sustainable.
Thank you, Trackdays. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. I will always be proud of what we accomplished together.
With deep gratitude,
Dan Jones
