Our Picks for the Best Track Day Race Tuition Experiences - News

No matter what your level of skill and aptitude behind the wheel, even the most seasoned track day driver can always benefit from learning a thing or two from a professional. At Trackdays, we're proud to offer a vast selection of Race Tuition experiences, with coaching and sessions aimed at everyone, from complete novices to more advanced drivers.

With this in mind, we've hand-picked three of our very best packages which you may want to consider booking with us before you head out on your next Own Car Track Day event in the UK or Europe that will increase your confidence and performance out on circuit…

For those who are newcomers and are really getting to grips with the etiquette and demands of the track day circuit, then this comprehensive introductory course in a track spec Renault Clio 197, held at Mallory Park in Leicestershire, is by far the best place to start.

Your day commences with a welcome and sign on along with hospitality refreshments, all before your driver's safety briefing, which has an explanation of how the day will unfold. You'll be learning under only the very best instructors, who are fully A and S grade, ARDS qualified, registered and licenced by the official motorsport governing body, Motorsport UK.

The main curriculum of this course is on getting good seating and hand positions, how to establish the correct lines going in and out of corners, and when to brake, understeer and oversteer effectively. Following some on-track demonstration laps from the instructors, you'll get to try out these new skills over four driving sessions with coaching from the instructor. Plus, you'll also have the opportunity to ask the instructors any questions at the debriefing session at the end of the day.

Meanwhile, those novice track day goers in the West Midlands wanting to explore a beginner's entry point might want to give this session a go. Seighford Driving Centre is actually unique amongst our track day venues, in that it's the only one with a dedicated novice training track, measuring 1 mile in length with two chicanes and two hairpins.

But, for those starting out with the basics, that's kind of all that's needed. Because lower top speeds (noise static is at a strictly imposed limit of 105 db here) and the basic track layout is perfect to allow drivers to focus on finessing their technique in terms of driving lines, braking and cornering without the daunting prospect of the Racing Circuit to worry about.

And over the course of your day here, you'll get to enjoy 1:1 tuition with an expert ARDS qualified instructor, in short bursts of 20 minute intervals that will be entirely dedicated to helping you be a better, more confident track driver.

For those of a more intermediate or experienced level, this dedicated course at the historic Castle Combe in Wiltshire, at their dedicated Racing School, has to be the one to beat. For starters, there's the venue itself - one of the most instantly recognisable circuits in the UK in a truly picturesque part of the country.

But the use of a Ford Fiesta S for both the passenger laps from the instructor and the five dedicated driving analysis laps you'll get from them over the duration of your session proves that, fundamentally, it doesn't matter how flashy or top of the range your car is - it's about maximising it to its full potential out on track.

And indeed, once you got this pocket rocket running at speed, there's so much enjoyment to be had that you quite simply don't get from any other driving experience.
