We received a letter today from the Mallory Park race circuit General Manager John Ward asking for help from all our customers to help save the BARC owned racing circuit from its local councils noise ruling! It transpires that the local council have crumbled under pressure from its whinging residents and decided to resurrect an out dated rule made in 1985 restricting the number of ‘active days’ the circuit can operate. Mallory Park, near Leicester has held racing since the 1950′s and seen many of the great two and four wheeled racing hero’s thunder round its circuit. Part of the worrying letter from Mallory Park letter reads "We have asked for support where we can from all our friends. This should be done initially whilst we are negotiating a settlement by emailing the local council and signing the e-petition set up by our supporters at the following. Support emails to
[email protected] he is the chief executive of the council who will make the ultimate decision. I do hope that you can find the time to support us and where possible send the details to your other colleagues, members etc. Thanks For your help, Kind Regards, John Ward" Trackdays.co.uk Marketing and Event Manager, Mark Rusted, said "Back in August we released the news of strangling noise restrictions being imposed on the circuit. It seems the local council are right at the point of choosing how much ‘success ballast’ will be imposed on Mallory Park when it comes to 'striking a balance between circuit and resident needs'. If the local council stand firm on its 28 year old decision then BARC say the circuit will become commercially unviable and thats another way of saying it is under serious threat of closure!".Some local residents are using the local council as a battering ram against the ‘Friendly circuit’, continually bludgeoning it in a bid to satisfy their own selfish needs. If you don’t want engine noise you don’t live near a race track! Terms between the local council and Mallory Park must be renegotiated to ensure the future of the much loved circuit. Mallory Park is just the next victim of the noise police following… the near closure of Croft, the severe enforcement on Donington Park, continuous restrictions at Oulton Park, recent attacks on Snetterton, hideous limits against Thruxton and Goodwood.. the list is increasing rapidly! Send in your emails to Mt Atkinson at the council, register on the petition, tell anyone you can think of to do the same – or we might be loosing another UK circuit for great racing and
trackdays.
