As we approach the start of yet another Premier League football season in the first week of August, the anticipation is beginning to reach fever pitch. Pubs, social clubs, and households are beginning to talk of who will come out on top in the most exciting domestic league in world football.
But when talking about the modern game, you can't avoid the lavish lifestyle that some players live. Car collections are often a subject of online debate, sometimes even more than the football itself.
That's why here at TrackDays.co.uk, we kick off with some of the most impressive motors that your favourite football players own.
As one of the greatest players to ever play the game, Lionel Messi, has created a brand of football which transcended the sport.
And after coming from a modest family in Argentina, Messi can now buy whatever he wants, with cars being no exception.
And he now owns the most expensive car ever purchased by a footballer, spending $35m (£29.3m) on the elusive Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti, a prototype racing car used by the Scuderia in the 1950s.
Another player's name whispered in the same breath as Messi, is Portuguese phenomenon, Cristiano Ronaldo.
And it seems 'CR7' has just as much of a penchant for fast cars as his Argentinian rival as he paid an eye-watering $18.6m (£15.5m) for a Bugatti La Voiture Noire, a one-off evolution of the Chiron. The car is powered by the same 8.0L W16 engine as the Chiron, featuring a more futuristic look.
And the shocking thing is, it's not the only Bugatti he owns. The Manchester United superstar also has a Bugatti Veyron, Chiron, and Centodieci to add to the collection.
Being one of the most audacious and elegant Ferraris ever made, the LaFerrari would be an ideal garage trophy for any top athlete who has a need for speed.
Step forward, Son Heung-min – Tottenham Hotspur's South Korean superstar. Since becoming a modern-day icon at White Hart Lane, Son has expressed his desire for all things cars.
And being arguably Asia's best player, when he got the chance to purchase this Italian supercar for a cool $3m (£2.5m), he couldn't say no.
One of Africa's most celebrated players of the last 20 years, Samuel Eto'o, has had his fair share of success, representing his native Cameroon at a FIA World Cup as well as playing for titans such as Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.
He also owns the luxurious Aston Martin One-77, a concept car designed by the British manufacturer, to appeal to a more high-end market.
The massive 7.3L V12 engine pushes out 750 bhp. And with just 77 being built, Eto'o made sure one of them was his, for $1.8m (£1.5m).
