England's Tom Sykes raced hard until the end to secure victory in the second race of the Superbike World Championship season at Laguna Seca.
In a race littered with retirements, Sykes' capitalised to take the chequered flag ahead of late challengers Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies.
Any one of Sykes, Giugliano and Davies could have crossed the line first to take the win at Laguna Seca but the Kawasaki rider held on for the 25 points.
Xavi Fores was somewhat fortunate to place fourth, after Niccolo Canepa and Alex Lowes crashed, giving Fores a clear run.
Nicky Hayden finished fifth with Jordi Torres coming in sixth, Michael van der Mark climbed back to seventh following his early fall down the grid.
