Heritage diesel locomotive enthusiasts will relish the chance to enjoy driving one for real whilst hauling a passenger train of three coaches on this silver level train driving experience session! Hosted at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Derbyshire, this full day experience is your chance to climb into the cab of a Class 33, 47 or 73, and to get a feel for what it was like to drive one of these workhorses of Britain's main line railways, hauling both passengers and goods across the country. And it's only once you're at the controls that you get a feel for the torque and power these machines are capable of, as you operate the levers and bring more power to the engine as it hauls the coaches up Ecclesbourne's steady incline. Passing through level crossings, bridges and tunnels, you'll have opportunities to accelerate at certain points along the line. And yes, you will get to sound that distinctive two-tone horn as well! As well as the driving, shared in a group rotation, you'll also get to tour the depot at Wirksworth and visit the sheds as well, and you can bring along a guest to ride in the coaches whilst you drive as well!
