Master the art of this ancient skill as you take on the challenge of learning how to become a Blacksmith in this 3 Hour session for Two People in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales! This working forge is nestled in the quaint village of Grassington which has the meandering River Wharfe running through it, alongside being home to the Yorkshire Dales Visitor Centre. If you're looking for a weekend away, why not combine this unique Blacksmith experience with a few days in this beautiful countryside? With a friend or significant other, you'll be warmly welcomed to this forge as you are hosted by the traditionally trained Blacksmith, Richard, as he shows you how to forge metal and learn about the techniques and tools to pull off a masterpiece. This art form has been going on for centuries, but in three hours you'll realise just how much work physical work is required to perfect a fire poker, bottle opener or other useful household object! As well as learning a host of new skills, you'll also get to take your items home with you.

Three Hour Session

  • Examples of items you can forge: a fire poker, bottle openers, candle sticks, Viking style knife, hair pins, hooks, toasting forks and much more
  • You will form part of a small group of up to 5 participants

  • Fully equipped forge in the Yorkshire Dales

  • Minimum age 16
  • Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult
  • Suitable for beginners and those with some blacksmithing experience alike
  • A good, general level of fitness is required
  • Not suitable for spectators

Minimum Age: 16 years

  • Weekdays and weekends throughout the year
  • Dates are subject to availability
  • Sessions start at 10:00

  • Sturdy footwear such as safety boots should be worn
  • Non-flammable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty is recommended
