There’s nothing to match a gliding lesson for the purest flying experience you can have. The skills needed to stay in the air are completely different, as you’d expect, from flying a conventional aircraft.
However, you don’t need to take the controls yourself if you’d prefer to relax and let the expert instructor do the flying for you. The choice is yours!
If you do decide to pilot the aircraft then it will be an experience you’ll never forget.
Your gliding lesson starts with a full safety briefing before you even step into the cockpit, no matter how you decide to enjoy your experience. Once the briefing is finished it’s time to glide.
Depending on the location, your glider will either be hooked to a tug aircraft or attached to a winch to propel you skywards.
Once the instructor has pulled the release handle, then it’s time to find some thermals to stay airborne and take in the views with just the birds and clouds for company. This is flying in virtual silence and is quite unique from any other form of aviation.
It’s also a great opportunity to take some amazing photographs, so don’t forget to pack a camera.
The flight time can vary depending on the weather conditions, so if you do decide to take the controls yourself then make sure to enjoy every minute of it.
After you’ve experienced flying the glider, then it’s time for the instructor to take back control and glide you gently back to earth.
Meanwhile, our 40-minute motor gliding flight is different as you fly in the glider to an adequate height before switching off the engine and experiencing a peaceful glide back to the airfield.
Our gliding packages take place at various airfields across the country and provide a great experience as a treat for yourself or as a gift for a family member, friend or work colleague.
They also form part of a wider flying experience portfolio that TrackDays.co.uk is proud to present, including Vintage Flying, Aerobatic Flying, Microlighting, Hot Air Balloon Rides and Helicopter Flights. There’s even skydiving for the ultimate thrill!
