Initially debuting in 1992, the Impreza was a sedan, hatchback vehicle targeted towards the families of Japan and North America. However, the incredible Japanese engineering would mean that slightly later down the line, they’d begin to manufacture performance based vehicles in turn creating one of the most popular rally cars in the world.
The Rally cars outstanding performance drove sales through the roof for Subaru as the Impreza managed to reach speeds and show performance that resembles that of a supercar but at a fraction of the price. The Rally Impreza was able to reach an impressive 135 mph, but more so has incredible acceleration. The 2.0 litre engine forces this car from 0 - 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and holds a staggering 350 bhp.
Most famously used by Colin McRae in helping him rev to victory in numerous Rally Championships, this is arguably where the popularity of the Impreza soared. The Subaru Impreza also has an iconic rivalry with the Mitsubishi Evolution and it's a widely controversial debate to which vehicle is better. We even have a special Subaru Vs Mitsubishi driving experience we sell here at Trackdays to settle the debate!
