First unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in 2005, Dodge unveiled - in collaboration with DaimlerChrysler - a new police version of their long running and popular Charger model, and at TrackDays we offer this for several driving experience days at venues across the UK, chiefly (pardon the pun) our Dodge Charger Interceptor 14 Lap experience package.
The main differences you’ll notice with this is the police performance-tuned steering, with the gear shifter also mounted in the steering column, heavy-duty brakes and a severe duty cooling system, as well as an aluminium grille plate which can mount radio equipment, sirens and lights.
Being a police vehicle means the Dodge Charger V8 is necessarily super swift to help the cops deal with lawbreakers in real life chases and arrests. With a souped up 5.7-litre Hemi V8 engine on 380 bhp, it has a top speed of 145 mph and accelerates from 0 - 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.
