Top Driving Resolutions for 2025: Stay Safe and Drive Smarter - News

As we turn over a new leaf into 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how we can improve behind the wheel. Whether you are a seasoned driver or a new one, there’s always room for improvement to help prioritise safety. With evolving traffic patterns, vehicle features, and a focus on eco-conscious driving, there’s never been a better time to set goals for smarter, safer driving!

In this blog, we’ll explore some top driving resolutions, which will help you navigate through 2025 safely on the roads. From defensive driving tips to maintaining your car’s health - these changes will set you on the way to becoming a better driver all around. So, let's buckle up and make this year your safest and smartest yet.

  • Commit to Regular Vehicle Maintenance
It can be easy to let car maintenance slide. Whether it’s forgetting to check your oil levels, neglecting your tyres and suddenly realising you’re driving along with a flat one, or realising you’re dangerously low on engine coolant.

All of these are some basic checks many of us forget in day to day life, but are easy to pencil in. To help you remember, you could choose a date every month and set a reminder on your calendar to give these a regular once over. Make 2025 the year of ensuring all the basics are taken care of regularly, and you’ll have a smooth driving experience overall.

  • Explore our Drifting Experiences

You might be wondering how learning to drift can make you a better driver, but actually, our Drifting Experiences teach you to be a safer driver on the road. Whether you are trying to avoid a dangerous driver and react safely, or simply want to learn better handling of your vehicle while driving, these experiences really can improve your driving for the better.

On a typical drifting experience, you will learn new techniques of steering, throttle, and braking to intentionally induce and maintain oversteer, learn quicker reflexes and how to maintain confident driving under pressure and develop an awareness of traction limits. All of these skills can set you up to be an even safer driver out on the road.

  • Reduce Distractions While Driving

Driver distractions are one of the most common causes of road accidents. Whether it’s reaching to adjust your map on your phone or in the built in car navigation system, taking a phone call (hands free or otherwise), or even eating and drinking - these are just a few of the most common distractions that can cause fatal accidents.

If you find yourself reaching for your phone or are tempted to take your eyes off the road for a second, remember that it’s not worth it and that when you’re driving that should take priority. When it’s safe to do so, you can simply pull over and resolve whatever you need to without being distracted on the roads.

  • Adopt Eco-Friendly Driving Habits
We all know that driving isn’t the best for the planet, particularly if we’re driving petrol or diesel cars. However, there are some quick habits you can adopt to make your driving better for the planet even if you can’t afford an electric car.

  1. Avoid idling - if you’re stopped for more than a minute turn off your engine or have a start stop system installed if you don’t already have one.
  2. Drive smoothly - avoid speeding up and slowing down too quickly to maintain a steady speed.
  3. Plan your route - choose the most efficient journey which reduces time on the road.
  4. Engine braking - use it! If you can slow down without using the brake pedal - do.
  5. Minimise air conditioning - if you can, open a window instead.
By adding these small changes to your driving, you can easily build up some eco-friendly habits - which the planet will thank you for!

  • Book a Track Day to Improve Your Driving Skills

Think you know your car inside out? Chances are, despite how long you’ve had it, you’ve probably only scratched the surface when it comes to its driving potential. With conventional roads as busy as they are, it’s almost impossible to discover your car’s true potential without going on a Car Track Day.

These are a great opportunity to put your car to the test, and also learn a host of new driving skills such as braking and cornering skills and steering with precision. Also, it’s pretty darn fun to take your car along an iconic racing circuit such as Silverstone, Three Sisters or Blyton Park to name a few.

Booking a Car Track Day for 2025 is a unique opportunity to get to know your car a bit better and improve your driving skills.

All sorts of fun awaits in 2025. Check out our full range of Driving Experiences that can help give you the skills and confidence to welcome in the new year whilst driving safely, confidently, and smartly.
