Tom Cruise will play the performance car specialist legend Carroll Shelby in the film based on the book "Go Like Hell". This film will tell the fantastic story of the battle between Ferrari and Ford for top spot in the prestigious Le Mans race. This was considered THE race to win and reflected the manufacturers overall position in the pecking order for top Supercar manufacturer.
For the 1966 Le Mans race Henry Ford decided to challenge Enzo Ferrari at his own game after failing to buy Ferrari. The Ford car was designed by Carroll Shelby. This race turned around Ford's lack luster position in the Supercar market after spoiling Ferrari's dominance on the Le Mans race track with four successive wins with the GT40.
Carroll Shelby was a racer turned car designer. Racing for Aston Martin, Austin Healey and Maserati plus Formula One and a Le Mans winner himself put him in a great position of understanding. After which he put his name to many road and race cars. He was most well known for producing super powerful engine's that would even challenge many of the modern Supercars in terms of brute BHP. Iconic cars such as the Dodge Viper, Ford Mustang and the British AC Cobra are among our favourites.
You can experience the thrill of driving some of Shelby's classic Supercars with Trackdays.co.uk.
You can drive the crazy AC Cobra at the historic Goodwood circuit in West Sussex. At the same track you can also get behind the wheel of the brutal Dodge Viper and even the famous Ford Mustang. At our experience venue near Bicester in Oxfordshire you can also drive the last of the big Austin Healey's. Unfortunately we don't have a Le Mans Ford GT40 or Ferrari 330 P3's but we do have some other fantastic iconic classics in our Classic Car Driving Experience range such as the British Jaguar E-Type and Jensen Interceptor.
