When you are as quick as a supercar, 5 seconds is an eternity and that is likely the time it would have taken the boffins at Porsche to finish staring blankly in disbelief at the recorded lap time.

The previous time set with a Porsche 918 Spyder looked like it would stand for some time but the Lamborghini Huracan Performante ran a single lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:52.01. The Huracan Performante is a lighter special edition car, packing a V10 and active aerodynamics and seems that these changes have made it blistering quick. The fastest lap overall still rests with the Radical SR8 LM with a time of 6:48. The Radical is not a production car as such and it seems the gap is closing.
