Just like your fingerprint, your driving style identifies you, and this can be seen on track days up and down the country. Given the diversity of how people behave behind the wheel, choosing the right track day to suit your temperament and level of experience is important.
Start at the beginning
If it's your first time booking a track day, then the Novice Only format is the option for you. These are for drivers with little or no circuit experience and the other drivers will be of the same level.
It's not designed to be a race but for car enthusiasts to have fun behind the wheel of their pride and joy, while discovering what the car is really made of.
It's also a good opportunity to practise driving lines, braking procedures and approaching corners for the first time.
Additionally, a Novice Only track day is the ideal excuse for seasoned track veterans to persuade those they know to have a go, so they can enjoy the excitement of driving on a race circuit as first timers.
Go up another gear
With a few more track miles on the clock, then it's time to consider an intermediate Open Pitlane format.
Being an Open Pitlane means you have the freedom to come and go on the circuit as you like, for as long or as little as you like. However, if the track is full and you're in the pitlane then you'll need to queue until someone else comes in and you can take their place.
When out on the circuit you can then test your driving style and see how it compares with others. Is your cornering up to scratch? Are you too heavy on the brakes and throttle? Is your racing line (literally) on track?
Other things to consider which might influence your driving style is the set-up of your car, such as tyre management.
If all this sounds enticing, then famous circuits where Open Pitlanes are available through Trackdays include Silverstone, Donington Park, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Snetterton to name but some.
Head overseas
As your confidence grows, you're likely to want to try new circuits to hone your driving style.
And it doesn't get much more exciting than heading overseas to world famous tracks, including the legendary Nürburgring in Germany.
Even the most ultimate sports car takes almost seven minutes to complete one lap, meaning you'll have plenty of time driving round the 14.2 mile circuit to perfect your driving style.
And when you've conquered Nürburgring, you can try other awe-inspiring circuits including the Francorchamps circuit at Spa.
A circuit for everyone
No matter your driving style, with our years of experience and insights, Trackdays will have a format and circuit to suit you.
Just remember to drive within your limits and abide by track regulations to ensure you make the most of your time at the circuit.
