Ford Performance has revealed a data logging smart phone app at this years SEMA show, giving users access to telemetry, performance data and a whole lot more.
The app is set to launch next year alongside the stunning new Ford GT, the first in a series of compatible cars (Shelby GT350R, Shelby GT350, F-150 Raptor, Focus RS, Focus ST, Fiesta ST) using Ford's new Sync 3 information system.
This is Ford's answer to GM's data recorder for the Chevrolet Corvette, but instead of using tech built in to the car, it utilises smartphones to track location, performance data and to record video footage.
Users will be able to use the app to share their on-track accolades on social media, and is sure to prove popular with car track day goers with the apps ability to produce slick data overlays, such as statistics, gauges and track layouts on to videos.
Ford has said it plans to release the app on all popular smartphone operating systems, so we're assuming that means the latest versions of Apple's iOS and Google's Android.
