KEY POINTS
Own Car Track Days in the UK are great fun and well organised. As you'd expect, they have strict safety rules including that drivers have a full UK driving licence or an international equivalent for the vehicle that is being driven.
It's also important that any drivers using a non-GB licence ensure the photocard undoubtedly shows that the licence holder is allowed to drive the class of vehicle. There's also the option of presenting a competition licence, with National B or higher MSA/FIA race licences recognised.
Safety is Paramount at Track Days
As well as having the correct paperwork, there's a raft of other measures from operators to ensure track days run as safely, and smoothly, as they can. This includes the wearing of crash helmets but if you don't have one then most events can supply helmets for hire.
There are also different coloured flags that drivers need to adhere to including yellow for extra care, red for the session being stopped because of a serious incident, yellow and red stripes for debris or poor grip, blue shows that another car wants to overtake and black if you've done something you shouldn't or there's something wrong.
Are There Times When a Driving Licence Isn't Required?
One of the occasions that people in the UK can drive a car without a driving licence is when booking a Provisional Licence Driving Experience, which is also available for those with no licence at all or who are yet to obtain their provisional licence.
This is different to a track day (where you take your own car to drive on the circuit) as the driver is accompanied by an experienced instructor at the venue throughout their time behind the wheel in a supplied vehicle.
And the good news is that a lack of experience behind the wheel is no barrier to enjoying some of the most amazing cars on the planet. Far from it, if you've a passion for Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Aston Martin or Porsche, then why not take the first steps in your driving journey in a supercar!
Other Options Without Having a Driving Licence
As well as no licence needed driving experiences, other ways that thrill seekers can feel the exhilaration of sitting inside a supercar includes High Speed Passenger Rides.
These can be booked as standalone experiences, or can be included as part of the no licenced needed experience, and are available to enjoy at a wide variety of locations across the country.
It is a great opportunity to fully appreciate the power and performance of a supercar, whether it is from Audi or Nissan, for example. All you need to do is let the expert instructor showcase their driving skills, getting the most out of the monstrous motor for your enjoyment.
