Set on a 25 acre site that's within easy reach of Brighton, Eastbourne and Crawley, this exhilarating Off Road day for two is packed with all manner of exciting vehicles and challenging terrains to navigate. You'll be part of a group of four to six participants, and following your welcome, sign on and briefing, you'll be tackling densely packed woodland trails, deep troughs and, of course, plenty of mud!
Vehicles you can expect to be driving range from small and agile rally karts, roll caged trial buggies fitted with dumper truck tyres, Yamaha ATVs and Land Rover 4x4s. Your day will be split up into three off road courses in the morning, followed by a break for lunch at a nearby pub, and another three off road courses in the afternoon. Will you and your loved one or best friend emerge triumphant at the prize giving at the end of the day? Time will tell…
Located a stone's throw from the world famous home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone Rally School offers this unique experience which is divided into two distinct parts. Following your welcome and sign on, your first session will be focused on the high octane thrills of rally driving.
Following a classroom session of 20 minutes covering the basic principles of rally driving, you'll head out onto the rally stage, mastering handbrake turns on straights and corners, kicking up some serious dirt and dust with powerslides, as well as attempting donuts and figure 8s skid pan style!
Your second session will then see you head to the dedicated 4x4 area, where crawling up steep inclines, navigating and keeping your balance over sharp 1m drops, pivoting through troughs and moving through tightly packed trees on a vertiginous slope is the order of the day. You'll also get to debrief with the instructors at the end to see how you got on!
There are few locations where a 4x4 truly comes into its own quite like a quarry. And this quarry based driving centre near Coleford in Gloucestershire has an awesome half day experience package that will prove that theory.
Under the guidance of expert 4x4 instructors, you'll be driving Land Rovers including Defender 90s and Discovery Ones on a challenging off-road course, and receive comprehensive training to help maximise the performance and handling of these vehicles in any driving environment such as the course, which gradually increases in levels of difficulty.
This is a shared experience, so you'll be in a group - but you can watch from the sidelines whilst others are driving - and you can even bring along a spectator if you so wish, plus a buffet lunch is provided as well to relax with after the concluding debrief session.
Now, this particular off-road package has been on our books for a good few years. But it's recently moved to an awesome new venue in the East Midlands - Kendrew Barracks - that's located on the border where Rutland meets Leicestershire.
One thing that hasn't changed though, is just how much excitement and adventure this awesome experience packs into a morning or afternoon. We're talking 6 laps in a rally spec car on the rally stage, a 4x4 Off Road challenge, 6 laps in a Rage Buggy on the gravel stage, a drive of a HGV truck, fire engine or double decker bus, donuts, figure 8s and short circuits on the drifting stage, a high speed passenger ride in a performance saloon car and a free Off Road passenger ride in a 4x4 from an instructor.
Quite frankly, we're breathless just reeling that all off - but we don't doubt you will be too after you book in for this one. Plus, you'll also have the option to purchase professional photos taken during your drives, and receive a commemorative certificate to take home as a lasting memento of the day!
