You may remember back in January that we reported on the return of the iconic Aston Martin to the Formula 1 circuit. The luxurious car brand has been vacant from the top tier of racing for over 60 years and the long awaited return has created an extremely exciting environment for what’s to be expected and now we have the first picture of that.
They unveiled their new Formula 1 car last week, and as expected, the racing community was alight with opinions. It received a widely positive response, especially with regards to appearance, although that’s not surprising. Aston Martin has long been one of the leading designers within engineering.
Sporting a stunning racing green, the AMR21 stands out superbly. However, it must be noted, they haven’t just entered to win best looking car, as they have some outstanding engineering to go alongside the model. Electing for the Mercedes-AMG’s ‘F1 M12 E Performance’ hybrid V6 engine, you can rest assured Aston Martin are here to compete.
The AMR21 will hit the tracks for the first time today (Tuesday, 9th March) in preparation for the opening weekend at Bahrain on Sunday 28th March. Of course, Aston Martin will be running it on their test track at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, as they look to open a new 20,000 square foot engineering facility that will oversee the production, development and maintenance of Aston Martin’s F1 performance.
Here at Trackdays, we are extremely excited for their long awaited return to the circuit. Although they didn’t pick up a single point in their last tenure under the Racing Point name, with Sebastian Vettel at the helm and with the advancements of engineering and the efforts they are now going to, we are quite confident that will change very quickly!
So with that in mind, I guess it’s over to Aston Martin and the opening weekend of F1 to see what the true results are!
