Fancy climbing up one of London’s most recognisable landmarks? You’ll have the chance to do just that, when you book on for the exhilarating ‘Up at the O2’ experience! Scale up the sides of one of the most iconic venues and take in the breathtaking views across the city, including The Shard, Greenwich Park, The Tower of London and the Observatory from the viewing platform on the rooftop! This unique climbing challenge has been designed and created by The O2’s original architects, as you put your strength to the test whilst navigating up 380 metres of fabric walkway as you literally go over and up The O2’s distinctive webbed roof, suspended 52m above the ground with angles of ascent of up to 30°. Rest assured, safety is a prime concern with all aspects of this experience, so along with the rest of the group, you’ll be fully kitted out with a climbing suit, comfortable shoes and harness to clip you to the dedicated metal guide ropes for the duration of the climb, and you’ll also receive a full briefing on what to expect. The climb will take, on average, about 90 minutes from ascent to descent, with multiple opportunities to pause and take in your surroundings. At the summit, you’ll get a full 360° panoramic view across London, as you begin your descent back down to North Camp. Rest assured, after you’ve gone Up at the O2, you’ll never see London in quite the same way ever again!

The Original Expedition

  • Climb the roof during the day

The Twilight Expedition

  • Experience the bright lights twinkling in the night sky

  • Minimum age 8
  • Minimum height 1.2m
  • Maximum weight 21 stone
  • A good, general level of fitness is required
  • Not suitable during pregnancy
  • Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult (aged 18 or over)
  • 1:2 adults to children aged 8-11 years
  • 1:4 adults to children aged 12-13 years
  • 1:5 adults to children aged 14-17 years

  • Participants should arrive 15 minutes before your climb time
  • Generally each group will consist of up to 18 people with a guide
  • If you are looking to 'Climb the O2' in the next few days, please advise our customer services team Monday-Friday during office hours. Voucher codes for online session bookings are not dispatched on weekends or bank holidays
  • The wearing of face coverings within the Up at The O2 base camp and north camp is advisable

Climbers can now wear their own shoes if the tread is suitable, provided they have the following:

  1. Velcro or laced fastening
  2. Deep tread – walking shoes/boots are ideal
  3. The soles/tread must be clean and free of mud and obstructions so as to not damage the walkway
  4. Fashion trainers with shallow treads are not suitable

The final decision as to suitability will be made by the team on the day. Climb shoes will be provided by us if your shoes are not appropriate or if you prefer to wear ours. You must wear socks.

Additional Safety Measures

  • Plastic screening installed at reception desks and a cash-free site
  • We encourage all visitors to continue to wear a face covering whilst in Base Camp, North Camp and during your visit to The O2.
  • Please practice good hygiene. Wash your hands thoroughly and use our free hand sanitiser stations which are installed throughout, including on arrival, pre and post-climb
  • Visitors are required to wear their own suitable clothing. Climb jackets and gilets are available on request if needed as an extra layer. Climb shoes are always available. You are able to take your mobile phone or compact camera up to the roof with you but it must be stored away in a button or zip pocket on your clothing.
  • Please respect other visitors. Keep your distance and appreciate that some people may still be apprehensive.
  • Tickets must be pre-booked and availability is limited
