Travel back in time and become a Master of the Mediaeval Longbow with this experience in Maldon, Essex. Starting with a briefing and introduction, you will learn the basic skills needed to fire one of these huge bows used as far back in time as the 14th century. Aim and shoot at mediaeval themed targets set out at different distances and see how far you can progress during your session, learning techniques such as the ‘victorian stance’ and the principles of speed shooting. During the session you can try out the different draw weight bows to see what works for you. These sessions are a great way to get excited about trying out a bit of history.   • Shoot with a hand-crafted longbow made in-house

  • All experiences include handmade longbows and arrows crafted by talented bowyers and fletchers. Equipment and necessary PPE is provided.

Longbow Masterclass

  • Learn how to shoot "Victorian style" including stance, handling and release techniques.
  • Progress to learn "Medieval" archery and the principles of speed shooting
  • Different draw-weight bows will be available so you can progress
  • Short and long-range targets
  • Please allow up to 3 hours on-site

  • Minimum age 8
  • Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult
  • Participants should have a good, general level of fitness

  • Available on selected dates throughout the year, subject to availability
  • Book early to avoid disappointment, we recommend booking at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance

Minimum Age: 8 years

  • You may form a group of up to 16 people
  • This is an outdoor activity so please dress appropriately for the time of year and weather conditions. Be prepared to be exposed to the great British weather

Really enjoyed a day's long bow experience with Now Strike. I was in a group of about a dozen fellow archers. The tuition was good and we had plenty of chance to shoot, in several different formats , all interspersed with a graphic account of a famous historic battle. I would definitely recommend it and indeed I would like to return. The staff at Into the Blue were very helpful and friendly and i'd also use them again.

it was an amazing day the instructor Adam really knew his stuff and really help us get better on how we should use the bows, i have already started to make plans to go again for someone who came with me and spectated and really got into it even tho they was not fully participating i would gladly recommend this to anyone looking for a good day out
