Kira, the owner, breeder, trainer, and handler of the birds, will be your guide throughout the experience. She is an incredibly passionate falconer who has built an amazing relationship with her raptors. Witnessing her work with the birds is truly captivating. At Pontefract, you will meet an assortment of birds, including Libby the African Spotted Eagle Owl, Bungle the Eagle Owl, Tilly the Barn Owl, Kobie the Harris Hawk, and even Geoff the Hawk, who has a special story to tell. Kira has also rescued and nursed back to health some raptors. She studied raptor rehabilitation in South Africa before returning to her native West Yorkshire to set up her aviaries. This falconry centre is open all year round, and Kira offers exclusive sessions for individuals or small groups of up to five. You will learn a lot, hear some nice anecdotes, and even get to actively fly these stunning creatures to your hand. Brilliant experience. Kira was very knowledgable and friendly. Her birds were beautiful characters. It was a hot day for the birds so they were unwilling to fly far but they did fly to us and happily sat on our arms while we chatted and fed them. Well definitely do this again.

The bird of prey experience was ok. The problem wasnt kira the handeling lady. It was the weather. The birds were too hot. We only had an hour and no flying because of the heat. A bit dissapointing really. But i dont know how it cud have been sorted because noone cant change the weather.

What fantastic experience this was, four beautiful owls, I managed to have three of them sitting on my arm, the fourth owl Eagle owl was a little bit sceptical of me, so Kiri kept him on her arm. I learnt so much about the owls from owner Kira Wild, she is very knowledgeable and passionate about the owls and all birds of prey, the experience lasted about 90 minutes and was held in the woodland, I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in birds of prey. Just one tip, make sure you cover up your legs and arms, there were a lot of midges flying around the woods, probably due to the hot sticky weather on the day.

Incredible experience Kira is amazing so warm and friendly and hugely knowledgeable and experienced, a real passion for what she does that just adds to the experience. Birds were absolutely beautiful and the whole management of holding them for my mum in law was done really well and made her feel really comfortable. We will be booking more with Kira for sure.
