Gliding fans are in for a truly golden time up in the sky on this special Gold Gliding Flight experience. The gliding club from which it is hosted is based at Ridgewell Airfield, a delightful and peaceful little air strip located on the border between Essex and Suffolk. You’ll be accompanied by an expert gliding instructor, as with the thermals (hopefully) in your favour and weather conditions permitting, the Piper Pawnee tug plane will launch you 1 mile into the air for approximately one hour’s gliding time. The gliders used on this experience are dual control and tandem seater - meaning you can take a seat in the front but also be expertly assisted with navigating and mastering how to “straight and level flight” and, then as you get more confident at the controls of the glider, learn how to turn it in the air too. Combining maximum gliding time with stunning views over the beautiful countryside where Essex meets Suffolk, there’s no better experience for gliders to enjoy!

Minimum Age: 14 years

  • Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays between April and November
  • All dates and session times are subject to availability and weather conditions
  • Participants should contact the flying school on the morning of their flight to check weather conditions are suitable
  • You can take along a camera, but it must use a neck-strap to firmly attach it
