Overview
Get to know the happiest bees in all of Devon on this fun and laidback two hour beekeeping experience at Higher Kellacott in the gorgeous Devonshire countryside near Dartmoor. This experience is hosted on Sundays during the spring and summer months at this bucolic three acre smallholding, run by husband and wife team Georgina and David, who live together with their dogs, sheep, lambs, hens and geese at their 17th Century cob farmhouse! The apiary is located in the top field at the back of the farmhouse, which is the ideal location for the bees as they can freely come and go in and out of the hives to the surrounding fields and wildflower meadows. You’ll be supplied with your protective gear and equipment to go out and meet them, and get a closer insight into the daily lives of the bees and the important work they do. David and Georgina are genial and light hearted hosts, so will be happy to answer any questions you may have. The fact they’re both passionate about the outdoors and their way of living is compelling, and helps greatly as you’ll see when you go there. Of course, there is an all important tasting session to sample the wonderful freshly produced honey from the hives before you go as well - ensuring this beekeeping experience ends on a sweet note!
