Your hosts, Georgina and David, along with their dogs, sheep, lambs, hens, and geese, love life on their three-acre farm. From its elevated position, the views from their 17th-century cob farmhouse across the Devonshire countryside are absolutely captivating. The apiary, located behind the house in the top field, is where the busy bees buzz in and out of their hives all day long. With fields and wildflowers all around, these bees are living their best lives, even if the life of a worker bee is pretty intense! Get ready to be amazed by literally lifting the lid on beekeeping by putting on your wellies and protective gear. All those questions you've had about bees will be answered. With good humour, enthusiasm, and a love for the outdoors, David and Georgina will have you enthralled during your visit to their Devonshire farm. Trust us, there's a lot more to beekeeping than setting up a hive and waiting to see what happens - it's utterly fascinating.   • Two hour beekeeping session
  • Learn about the workings of the hive and lifecycle of the honey bee
  • Discover what is involved in managing bees throughout the year
  • Find out how the bees produce honey and the journey from hive to jar
  • A visit to the apiary to inspect the hives with some hands-on opportunities (weather dependent)
  • Honey tasting, of course!
  • All protective clothing is provided

Exclusive Sessions

  • Choose the exclusive session for 2 or 4 people and you will have a private beekeeping session just for your group

  • Minimum age 16

  • Between May and August
  • Shared sessions: Selected Sundays
  • Exclusive Sessions: Mutually convenient dates and times; weekdays, weekday early evenings or Saturdays
  • Due to the seasonal nature of this activity and popularity it is recommended to book well in advance to avoid disappointment
  • Vouchers must be booked and redeemed before end August 2024 for the current season

Minimum Age: 16 years

  • Participants should bring along a pair of wellington boots to wear for this experience
  • Overnight accommodation in the onsite holiday cottage can be arranged when booking your date (subject to availability)
