Discover the Magic of Beekeeping in Sussex! Get ready for a buzzing adventure with these hands-on beekeeping courses for two in the stunning Sussex countryside. Set in the serene High Weald, near East Grinstead, this immersive experience lets you step into the world of real beekeeping and discover how these fascinating insects work their magic to produce one of nature’s sweetest treasures—honey. Run by passionate horticulturists and self-sufficiency advocates Lisa Aitken and Olivar Sinclair, this incredible course lifts the lid on the hive—literally! You’ll gain a whole new appreciation for apiculture, learning how bees craft intricate honeycombs and witnessing the delicate, complex relationship between bee, flower, and hive that results in the golden, gooey honey we all love. On this beginner-friendly course, you’ll discover the secrets of tending to bees, maintaining different types of hives, and harvesting honey without disrupting the colony. UK bees face their fair share of wet and windy weather, so proper care is essential for their survival. During the session, you’ll peer inside a working beehive, marvel at the stunning wax formations, and even try to spot the queen bee as she commands her buzzing workforce. Of course, all protective gear is provided, including the iconic beekeeping net hats that mark you as an official beekeeper for the day! The pace of the course is relaxed and enjoyable, with plenty of time to chat with fellow bee enthusiasts over a refreshing lunch break. Small group sizes ensure a truly interactive and engaging experience, giving you the chance to ask questions and get hands-on with the hive.
