Used primarily as an air base for Halifax heavy bombers from RAF Elvington - as it was known then - as well as being used after the war by French squadrons and the US American Air Force, who at one time used it as a Strategic Air Command base - although it was never fully operational. Today, civil aviation has returned to this popular airfield which is surrounded by stunning Yorkshire countryside, and you’ll get to see this and the surrounding area as you never have before, and the far reaching views beyond that are sure to leave a lasting impression.

- The maximum weight limit for the Co-Pilot Seat on a helicopter pleasure flight varies depending on aircraft and other operational considerations, but will not exceed 95kg
- If, as a party of one, you weigh in excess of 15 stone, you may still be able to fly; however, you will need to purchase an additional seat. This seat will either remain unoccupied or can be occupied by an individual, as long as the combined total listed above is not exceeded. However, a total individual weight of 21.5 stone cannot be exceeded
