There are two types of archery that are available to take part in, but if you're wondering what the difference is between both English Longbow and Target Archery, then it's quite simple.

English Longbow is the form of traditional archery that dates back to Mediaeval times, and it's usually what comes to mind for most people when you think of archers, riding astride their trusty steed into battle as they fired arrows from their recurve bow.

Target Archery - or American Flatbow, as it is sometimes called - is what superseded English Longbow, and basically means firing arrows from your bow at round target faces on a large sheet of paper from a given distance. It's the form of archery that's most commonly used in sports events like the Olympic Games.

To live out those childhood dreams of being Robin Hood, there is no better setting to experience archery in than in Nottinghamshire, over at Lime Woods in Calverton, a short drive away from Nottingham city centre. It'll definitely make you feel like you're riding with your merry men through Sherwood Forest!
