The 2025 Formula 1 season has a lot to live up to following the gripping exploits of 2024 and the good news is that it all starts again this weekend in Australia.
Albert Park in Melbourne will, once again, host the season opening race of the F1 calendar, which will see 24 races that finish with the last one in Abu Dhabi in December.
Celebrating its 75th anniversary season, it promises to be a rollercoaster of excitement and drama…and here at Trackdays, we can't wait!
High Expectations Down Under
As the season opener, the eyes of motorsport fans from around the world will be glued to their TV screens on Sunday 16th March.
If previous years are anything to go by then it promises to be a cracker. Highlights from the Land of Oz have seen Australian Mark Webber score points for Minardi on his debut race, while in 1991 it became one of the shortest races in F1 history due to treacherous racing conditions.
It also saw Nigel Mansell's hopes of becoming World Champion go down the pan in 1986, although he did clinch the crown in 1992.
Eyes on the Starting Grid
As seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, there will be intense scrutiny of Lewis Hamilton's first competitive race for Ferrari.
His bold move from Mercedes will now see Charles Leclerc as his teammate as he bids for a record eighth title.
There's also an array of new faces destined to make an impression in 2025 including Jack Doohan, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto.
The teams will all be familiar though, comprising McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Alpine, Haas, Racing Bulls, Williams and Sauber.
Who Will Win?
Of course, that's impossible to say but we can pick out a few potential frontrunners. The previously mentioned Lewis Hamilton will hold nothing back, and fellow Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc will be aiming for his ninth F1 victory.
Max Verstappen will want to continue his winning ways and make a good start as he aims for a fifth world championship.
George Russell will look to build upon his three Formula 1 Grand Prix wins, and the other two Brits, Oliver Beaman and Lando Norris, will proudly represent our home-grown talent.
