This hands-on Start Yachting experience throws you straight into life aboard a yacht, offering an authentic and rewarding insight into sailing. Guided by experienced instructors and sailing alongside fellow beginners, you will learn by doing as you take part in all aspects of life on board over the course of the weekend.
Throughout the course, you will develop essential skills including sail handling, knot tying and basic seamanship, all taught in real sailing conditions. With an overnight stay included, you will share responsibilities such as manning the decks and preparing meals, making this a truly realistic yachting experience. By the end of the weekend, you will have gained valuable confidence on the water and achieved your RYA Start Yachting certificate, the perfect first step towards further sailing qualifications.

Participants must be able to swim 50m and have a reasonable level of fitness.

Be prepared for changeable weather, plenty of layers. Waterproofs are a must, which can be supplied if needed.
Woolly hat, gloves (for warmth and rope friction protection), shades with a retaining strap and sun cream.
Deck boots and non-slip deck shoes or trainers that don’t mark. Be aware that everything is capable of getting wet.
Take a sleeping bag and pillow. Take a towel - showers will be available at any marina you pull into, and a basic toilet and washbasin will be on board.
Food will be supplied on board, and cooking duties will be shared.
Bring spending money for any meals out and drinks.
Limited space on board, bring one large bag only.
