Welcome to the horse and farm experience in Yorkshire! Spend a half-day at this working farm not far from York, meeting the owners, working with the horses and enjoying lunch too.
Your experience revolves around the horses. A big part of having working horses is caring for them and making sure they are in top physical condition. You’ll learn all about the daily routine and seasonal jobs that need to be done, from checking boundary fences in the pastures to preparing feed. You’ll also get very much hands-on with the grooming. There’s a set care routine and you could be assisting with several treatments - and it’s not just about brushing those manes and tails!
Another important part of your visit will be getting the horses in their harnesses ready to be hitched to a cart or carriage - and that’s because you will be driving! Every experience at this Yorkshire farm includes a drive out with the horses and it is a definite highlight for many.
After the outing, it’s all about washing down your trusty steed and getting them relaxed and settled either back in the field or in the stables - and that’s your day on the farm with the horses done! All participants get to drive a cart or carriage and will enjoy a Ploughman’s lunch.
