Kitesurfing is one of the most exhilarating wind sports around, offering an unbeatable adrenaline rush as you glide across the water powered purely by wind. Thanks to modern equipment and the structured teaching system developed by the International Kitesurfing Organisation (IKO), learning to kitesurf has never been more accessible—or more exciting.
This comprehensive three-day course is ideal for those serious about progressing in the sport. You will cover everything from kite launching and landing, water safety, body dragging, and self-rescue techniques, to board starts, riding upwind, rules of the road, weather theory, and more. By the end of day three, most participants achieve their IKO Level 2 certification, enabling them to kitesurf independently and hire equipment worldwide—and you may even be attempting your first jumps.
Extreme fun, rapid progression, and total immersion guaranteed, this course takes you from complete beginner to confident, independent kitesurfer under expert instruction.
Requirements
The minimum age is 16 years. (12yrs in Portsmouth and 18 yrs in Northumberland unless accompanied by an adult)
There is no specific requirements regarding maximum size, but you will need to fit into a harness. Please check with the centre when booking if you have concerns regarding this.
You must be comfortable in the water.
If you have a particular medical condition that you think may affect your ability to do the course, please check with the centre when booking.

Most of our kitesurfing centres are open from March to November.
Hampshire is available between May and October only.
Participants: The Three Day Kitesurfing Course is for 1 participant.

Spectators Allowed on Site: Yes
Group sizes vary but will usually be 2 - 4 students perinstructor. Spectators are welcome but please listen to theinstructors as to where the safest place to stand and watch is.

The course will last five to six hours per day over three days. The start times vary due to tide times.

Equipment & Clothing
All equipment will be supplied - this includes kite, board, wetsuit, harness and helmet.
You just need to take a change of dry clothes, a swimming costume and a towel.
If you have your own kit and want to use it for the lessons, please check with the centre first.
Weather
Kitesurfing is a weather dependent sport. You need wind! Depending on the location, you may also need wind in a particular direction.
The tides also play a part, with many locations not being able to teach at high tides.
Please make sure you call the centre either the day before or on the actual day of your course to check that your lesson is going ahead.
