The Royal Horticultural Society opened their newest gardens, RHS Garden Bridgewater, to the public in 2021 to great acclaim, and now you and a loved one, friend or family member can explore these beautiful and tranquil gardens, located in Salford just outside Greater Manchester, for yourself. So named after the Bridgewater Canal that borders the gardens, the site they are on was originally Worsley New Hall, a mansion house that has long since been demolished. However, the faithful team of gardeners at the RHS have worked tirelessly to restore and renew the gardens to their classic Victorian glory, whilst incorporating a modern, contemporary feel. Your entrance point will be the architecturally impressive, award winning Welcome Centre, that blends effortlessly with the more formal landscape of the garden, which is laid out over a 154 hectare space that you can discover at your own leisure. The design and plans of Bridgewater were created by celebrated horticulturalist Tom Stuart-Smith. The Walled Garden, one of the largest in Europe, has been thoughtfully restored under his experienced landscaping, as well as the conception and creation of a series of themed garden rooms; the peaceful Wellbeing Garden, the Kitchen Garden and the Paradise Garden. There is also a lush Chinese Sidestream Garden, a new installation that links the new Moon Bridgewater to Ellesmere Lake with a traditional music pavilion. All of this, plus a garden centre, a café, a woodland adventure playground, beautiful floral and plant displays and impressive water features means there is plenty to see and do for all at RHS Garden Bridgewater.
