Why buy from us?
Treat the inquisitive nature lovers in your life to a 2 hour Beekeeping Experience in Bungay situated near the Norfolk and Suffolk border. Not only is this a beautiful area of the world, known for its rolling fields and wildflower meadows, but delicious East Anglian honey that comes from the very bees you’ll be handling. Don the head to toe bee keepers suit, as you are hosted by the head beekeeper, Stacy, whose enthusiasm for all things bees is unavoidably catchy. She will show you the inside of a hive and explain the various functions of a bee colony all the while you’ll be keeping your eyes peeled for the infamous Queen bee. Once you’ve found her, you’ll be able to witness how much honey and pollen has been stored and marvel at the system she’s established in this hive. Everyone who participates in a beekeeping experience always comments on how they will never see honey in the same light afterwards once they have seen the efforts that go behind it, and this tour will be no different. Once you’ve come to the end of your experience, you will be given the opportunity to sample some of this special honey and marvel at it’s unique floral sweetness. This is the ideal Spring and Summer experience for curious outdoor enthusiasts who want to learn the science behind honey and witness live bees in action within the complicated hive structure. Amazing experience!! Very informative and interesting. Had private introduction for two and was by far best Christmas present I’ve had. Stacy was a great at showing us the hives, teaching how bees live and making the experience fun. A must do for nature lovers.

Stacy was most welcoming and during the event her approach was not to talk down on you but was to involve you in sharing her passion for the bees. A lot of information about bees was given to us so that we could understand what goes on in a hive. On the day of the event, whilst a smoker was to hand it was not really required but was used to demonstrate the bees reaction to being 'puffed' by the smoke. No-one was stung and the 2 hives examined contained very un-stressed bees. We were shown how to remove frames carefully and were encouraged to perform it for ourselves. In one hive we identified the queen bee, which didn't seem to be present in the other. Honey tasting at the end showed how different flavours had been imparted to each jar of honey depending on which flowers the nectar mainly came from. It was really outstanding to have been there.

This was a wonderful experience, just as I expected but far more too. After a great welcome and introduction I put on my first ever beekeeper's suit and hat! Being able to hold the trays of honeycomb was fantastic and witness the queen bee at work close up. The whole atmosphere was very tranquil, the gentle constant buzz of bees in the background was part of a greater understanding and insight into their world which is so important to ours.
