Discover the joy of creating with a One Day Blacksmithing Course in Kent. Learn the craft of metalwork from an award winning blacksmith, Michael. Michael will teach you how to use the traditional tools and give you a general introduction to skills used in blacksmithing. Throughout the day you will make a fire poker, key fob and hook that you will be able to take home with you. You will have your own forge, anvil, vice and set of tools to use on the day to make your metal creations. Along with instructions from the instructor you will have handouts to refer to while making each item. You will be amazed at what you can make with your own hands.

The course does not operate in July and August
Sessions generally try at 9:30 finishing around 17:30

This experience was amazing - Mike (the instructor) was fabulous, really talented and very patient - helped you out however much you needed. I was lucky and got to experience using both the traditional coal forge and the gas forge. What was great (and in my opinion better than some other experiences) is that everything you made you got to take away at the end of the day with you. Definitely worth doing if you have any interest - it really was a full day and great fun!
(Just FYI, in case you’re concerned - I’m a small-ish woman and could do absolutely everything, no problem at all!)

Had the most fantastic day as a trainee blacksmith. Four of us on the experience, myself the only lady with probably the least experience of using a hammer but was made very welcome and never felt patronized. By the end of a very tiring but most enjoyable day I came home with a coat hook I was proud of, a very serviceable poker and an interesting leaf key fob. Would well.recommend.

Fantastic experience day. Since I was very young I had alway wanted to have a go at blacksmithing and for once my wife listened to my general ramblings and brought me this experience. Michael was welcoming and explained all the steps in detail, he was knowledgeable and answered any questions from the group in way we could all understand. He was patient and made sure the four of us were enjoying the day throughout. I would highly recommend this experience day.
