Kitesurfing Experience Days: Discover the thrill of kitesurfing with this one-day introductory course, where you will learn kite control, the basics of the sport, and work towards your IKO Level 1 qualification.
Kitesurfing has rapidly become one of the world’s most exciting extreme sports, combining elements of surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, and paragliding. Thanks to modern equipment and a structured learning system developed by the International Kitesurfing Organisation (IKO), beginners can now learn safely and confidently under the guidance of IKO and BKSA-approved instructors.
During the day, you will focus on the fundamentals of kite flying, gain an introduction to essential equipment and safety, and head onto the water to practice body dragging—feeling the true power of the kite. Depending on your progress, you may even begin attempting board starts by the end of the session, making this the perfect first step into the world of kitesurfing.
Requirements
Age Restrictions: Minimum 16 years. (12 years in Portsmouth)
There are no specific requirements regarding maximum or minimum height or weight, but you will need to fit into a harness. Please check with the centre when booking if you have concerns regarding this.
You must be comfortable in the water.
If you have a particular medical condition that you think may affect your ability to do the course, please check with the centre when booking.
Please note that dates are never fully guaranteed due to the dependency on the weather.

Spectators Allowed on Site: Yes
Group sizes vary but will usually be 2 - 4 students perinstructor. Spectators are welcome but please listen to theinstructors as to where the safest place to stand and watch is.

The course will last five to six hours. The start times vary due to tide times.

Equipment & Clothing
All equipment will be supplied - this includes kite, board, wetsuit, harness and helmet.
You just need to take a change of dry clothes, a swimming costume and a towel.
If you have your own kit and want to use it for the lessons, please check with the centre first.
Weather
Kitesurfing is a weather dependent sport. You need wind and tides! Depending on the location, you may also need wind in a particular direction. Please contact the centre on the day to confirm.
