Staying in Devon for a break or perhaps fancy taking in your local surroundings from the air? This excellent early morning or evening Hot Air Balloon flight, over the popular county town of Taunton, could tick all the boxes! You'll be taking off from one of five launch sites in and around Taunton, including Hamilton Gault Park which is an easy five minute drive up the M5 from the town itself. Of course, the weather conditions on the day will entirely decide which launch site you take off from. Over the course of your hour-long voyage, you'll be part of a group of eight in the basket. The wind direction and speed will carry you and determine the route of your journey, where you'll see some magnificent sights, including National Trust properties such as the country manor and estate of Montacute House, the Tudor mansion of Barrington Court near Ilminster, and the ornate gardens and arboretum at Fyne Court, all taken in from heights of up to 2000 ft in the air. You can even get involved with helping to prep and pack away the balloon before and after the flight, and enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne upon return to your starting point!

During your flight you may see:

  • View the architectural beauty of the County towns many churches, the Wellington monument and many National Trust properties such as Fyne court, Barrington court and Montacute house
  • Views extend down to the south coast, over the Quantock hills and across the south Somerset levels

  • Minimum age 6
  • Under 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult
  • Minimum height 4ft
  • Please advise if any passengers are over 17st (108kg)
  • Participants must have a good level of fitness and be agile enough to get in and out of the basket

  • Spectators are welcome to watch your departure with great photo opportunities

Minimum Age: 6 years

  • Weekdays and weekends throughout the year
  • During summer months evening flights are generally scheduled on weekdays with morning and evening flights available on weekends
  • Winter flying can be more restricted due to unsettled weather conditions
  • Meet just after sunrise (can be pretty early mid summer!)or a few hours before sunset
  • Timings change as the length of the day changes

  • Suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear should be worn
