Set in the stunning Eastnor Castle estate, right by the Malvern Hills, this full day pottery workshop is the perfect excuse to switch off, get your hands messy and discover the joy of making something from scratch. The studio has a wonderfully calm atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to relax while learning a new skill. You will be welcomed at 10am and introduced to the potter’s wheel, before watching a demonstration and then having a go yourself. With gentle step by step guidance and plenty of encouragement, you will quickly get the hang of shaping the clay, and from there you will be free to practise at your own pace with support whenever you need it.
Around midday you can take a well-earned break to enjoy your packed lunch, or if you are keen to keep going, you are welcome to carry on practising on the wheel. The afternoon session gives you the chance to try out bigger lumps of clay, experiment with different shapes and build on the skills you picked up in the morning. By the end of the day you will have made a collection of pots, and you will be able to select your favourite pieces to be fired and glazed. Depending on weight, you can usually choose between one and three creations, with the option to have extra pots fired for a small charge.
Once your pieces have been carefully dried, fired and glazed, they will be packaged up and sent directly to your home, usually arriving about a month later. The results look wonderfully professional, and knowing you made them yourself only adds to the satisfaction. Whether you are treating yourself to a mindful day out, looking for a unique experience to enjoy with a friend, or surprising someone with a creative gift, this Herefordshire pottery workshop is a chance to unwind, learn something new and go home with pottery you will be proud of.
The minimum age for this experience is 16. Aprons and towel hire will be an extra £5 per person, with participants encouraged to bring their own. Although drinks and biscuits are provided, please bring your own packed lunch.
This gift voucher is for one participant, however you will be placed in a group of 8.
Workshops take place throughout the year on specific dates, both weekdays and weekends too. All dates are subject to availability.
