Owner Alan Ramsden has been offering helicopter lessons in Herefordshire since 1992. His passion for helicopters led him to set up the training school at Shobdon after gaining extensive experience as a helicopter pilot and instructor in the USA.
Shobdon, with its excellent relations with the local community and unrestricted airspace, provides an ideal setting for helicopter operations. The two-seater flights use the renowned Robinson R22 training helicopter.

- 30 minute one to one pre-flight briefing on basic helicopter procedures and use of the aircraft control
- Flight times include start up to shut down time
- Once airborne you will learn level flight, turns, power changes as well as hovering
Suitable For
- Minimum age is 14 years
- Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
- Maximum weight for flights in the 2 seater R22 is 17 stone
- There are no weight restrictions for the 5 seater Jetranger
- All guests will need to provide photographic ID in order to fly
- Participants of the five seater experiences are allowed to bring 2-3 interested observers (min age 14) who can observe the lesson from the rear seat (at the discretion of the flight instructor and subject to weather conditions and weight restrictions)
